Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a form of emotional support that helps you apply research-backed techniques to overcome cognitive, psychological, emotional, and social challenges. It uses a wide range of verbal and activity-based methods to help you identify and change unhealthy or unrealistic thinking patterns, changing your outlook and improving your quality of life.

Support for Every Season of Life
This therapy isn’t just for people with severe problems. Anyone who wants to self-improve, develop better coping skills, enjoy more satisfying relationships, or gain a clearer picture of how to approach challenging situations can benefit from this service.
Registered psychotherapist Chelsey Adilyn Tan can help patients with various concerns, including:
- Anxiety
- Conflict resolution
- Coping with bereavement
- Mood disorders
- Coping with chronic or terminal illness
- Personality disorders
- Relationship difficulties
- Stress
What to Expect
During your first appointment, Chelsey will review the policies of therapy and informed consent, and answer any of your questions about these. She’ll assess any biological, psychological, social, or spiritual factors that may contribute to the presenting problems that have brought you to therapy. Healthy habits like sleep, exercise routine, diet, social circles, occupation, and spiritual practices can all impact your mental health.
As a psychotherapist, Chelsey is qualified to provide supportive therapies, but cannot provide psychological diagnoses or prescribe psychiatric medication. She may refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist if your concern requires medical treatment.
After that, Chelsey will make a structured treatment plan for you. Her approach involves discovering what matters most to you and creating achievable goals. You learn to act according to your values, rather than emotions, negative thoughts, or doubts that contribute to poor relationships, self-image, coping skills, and adjustment to life transitions.
Helping You Find the Path Forward
At Village Wellness Clinic, we primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), integrating spirituality into everything we do where requested by clients. Chelsey may also use Rogerian Client-Centered Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), depending on your needs.
During a session, she may use a form of talk therapy or have you do an exercise to help you change your mindset, such as writing down your reactions to certain maladaptive thoughts, evaluating external evidence, and considering other possible, realistic ways of thinking in non-extreme ways about a situation that causes you distress.
We treat children and adults at all stages of life, and can work with you one-on-one. A typical appointment lasts one hour. Our care is patient-centered, and we maintain absolute confidentiality unless there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others.
